And all at once the rain stopped, the mud puddles dried up, and the blossoms opened. People crawled out of their stuffy homes with squinting eyes and exclaimed, “it is finally summer!”
We’ve had a busy few weeks with family in town, birthday celebrations and preparing to put our home on the market. We almost missed that summer arrived in the process. Yahoo! Let the blooming and sunshine begin.

I hope that you can take some time to enjoy the pleasures of summer: the first of the garden gifts, baby birds chirping to be fed, firing up the BBQ and having a meal al fresco, or a relaxing sunset at the end of a full day. It is the little things.

Cheers to the retirement years and the arrival of summer!

You’ve captured the arrival of summer which starts on June 1 as far as I’m concerned. The flannel sheets have been exchanged for cotton. I’ve sletp with a fan on x 2 when temps >30C. The rhubarb is harvested & transformed into juice & frozen for crisps to enjoy this winter. The garden is planted. The lilacs are in full bloom. I’ve spotted 5 bears to date. The cows are grazing in the pasture. The campgrounds are open & the RVs have hit the road. The first race of the World Professional Chuckwagon Association is in the books awa the first BBQ. I love summer. Good luck on the house sale.
Hi Mona –
What a great description of summer. WOW – five bear! We never see them unless we are up higher in the woods and I have only seen 2 in the wild in my life. Thanks for the reminder to freeze some of the rhubarb. Enjoy the sunny days ahead!
Welcome, summer! We are still experiencing our typical June Gloom here but I know that sunshine is just around the corner. I just checked our blueberry bushes this afternoon and it looks like we will have another banner crop. Yum!
The view from your patio is lovely… I bet you’ll miss that.
Hi Janis!
I would love to grow blueberries. We have tried a couple of times, without much success. We just don’t have the climate for them, unfortunately. So, eat enough of them fresh off of the bush for me too! One of those delicious, power foods.
